Parkwood Townhouse – 42-44 Westgate Drive, Westgate May 2023

Project Overview:
This project involves the construction of a total of 65 three-storey townhouses, utilizing Metra construction panels (Triboard) for the wall linings. These panels offer superior durability and are designed to withstand demanding conditions, making them an ideal choice for modern residential buildings.

Work Completed:
We have successfully plastered 35 of the townhouses, reaching Level 4 paint finish. The plastering process on the Triboard panels was completed, and internal corner arch beads were installed and stopped. The use of Triboard panels on this project has been a significant element, as they differ from traditional gib plasterboard linings due to their unique properties.

Triboard Panels:
Metra construction panels, specifically Triboard, are known for their distinctive characteristics, particularly in terms of density and permeability. This permeability can affect the drying time of stopping compounds, which must be carefully managed during the finishing process. As a result, the drying time for compound coatings may be extended compared to standard plasterboard linings.

To address this, Cemkey and hand plastering methods have been prominently utilized throughout the project to ensure optimal results. These techniques allow for better control over the drying and application of compounds, compensating for the differences in material properties and achieving a high-quality finish.
